JUVET HISTORICAL CARVED HALL
THE LEGEND OF JUVET HISTORY IN CHINA
In 1850, the China Qing Dynasty opened a number of
ports to foreign trade.
At that time JUVET was already well established in China. In 1856, Edouard
Juvet of Switzerland began to produce the "Big Eight Pieces" pocket watches
specially designed for the China market.
The first JUVET watch shop was established
in Shanghai when in 1860, Edouard Juvet's two sons,
Ami Louis Juvet and Leo Juvet moved to Shanghai, China to manage the JUVET watch business.
During the time,
JUVET watches were very successful in Chinas flourishing watch market.
The Beijing and Tianjin JUVET branches were subsequently opened in the next two years.
JUVET pocket watches were finely handcrafted and their unique artistic style were welcomed
by the royal family members and nobles of the Qing Dynasty. Owning a JUVET pocket watch
is a symbol of nobility. JUVET has since become the emperors watch brand.
GSW IS OFFERING THIS SILVER BIG 8 MODEL
In 1872, Leo Juvet made this remark.
It is suggested that JUVET pocket watches were a reputable
household name during the time. Most of the collections of antique JUVET are with private
collectors and China museums.
